Guest House
The Guest House - Affordable Housing and Life Skills Development & Mentorship for Young Women & Men
Since 1986, the Guest House has been a safe haven for families, teen mothers and women with young children. And now, something new...
In 2016, the Guest House opened its doors to women and men ages 18-25 in need of safe, affordable housing and skills development. The "new" program is to promote growth in the residents' abilities and expectations of themselves through skill building and goal achievement while providing shelter and basic needs under the direction and counsel of live-in house managers and mentors as they engage in a college education and enter the workforce. The program and tenant residency will be managed by Campus Ambassadors, a Missions Door ministry.
The Guest House can house up to 7 young men and women. The residents live and work together in a group home setting. The residents share in the responsibilities of taking care of the house (inside and out) to keep it a clean, safe and healthy home. Most importantly, the residents are learning and practicing skills in a variety of areas: household management, personal finances, interpersonal communication skills, personal health and well being, cooking and nutrition, employment preparedness, conflict resolution and peer relationships, and goal setting and achievement. In addition, the residents are attending school, seeking employment and/or working.
